And once again there is a new trend; vabbing, or Vaginal Dabbing. What is it and does it work?
What is Vabbing
With Vabbing, you smear some vaginal fluid behind your ear, or on your neck, on your wrist, or other places where you would normally spray perfume. In this case, the vaginal secretion should be seen as the ultimate perfume to seduce men.
This has everything to do with so-called ‘copulins‘. Copulins are secreted by the vagina at the peak of ovulation (i.e. at the time when you, as a woman, are most fertile). By using that liquid as perfume – or so the theory goes – you can drive men crazy with (sexual) desire. The man who catches the scent gets the signal that you are fertile.
The smell of copulins has been described as butter that is slightly skimming. In short: you smear some of your own moisture behind your ear and men go completely crazy? Something like that.
Old wine in new bottles
Smearing vaginal fluid on body parts other than the vagina itself is nothing new. It is a practice that has been around for a long time. I wrote about it before. But the trend has been recharged now that tiktokkers like Mandy Lee (@oldloserinbrooklyn) and Jewliah have brought it back into the spotlight.
The science behind Vabbing
Vabbing is wrongly associated with pheromones. Copulins are technically not pheromones, but they have a similar effect. Pheromones are hormones while copulins are a fatty acid. Pheromones make a woman attractive to a man, but the effect of copulins is much stronger. They can make a man be submissive or dominant towards the woman whose scent he smells.
Scientists like to point out that there is no scientific evidence that vabbing works. Unlike other mammals that secrete a love scent to attract a mate, humans do not have the roof of the mouth that allows us to ‘taste’ smells. Furthermore, doctors say that healthy vaginal fluid does not secrete odour at all.
Yet relationship experts swear by Vabbing, if only because of a placebo effect that gives women extra confidence. Lubricating their moisture makes them feel sexy and behave accordingly. It’s a bit like putting on sexy lingerie. Men don’t see it, but it makes women feel and behave differently.
