Piece of cake, you think? Most people consider them both dirty. Wrong! In the world of culinary preferences and sexual experiences, it may seem strange to compare pizza Hawaii and anal sex. Yet there is an interesting similarity to be found in the controversies and prejudices that surround both subjects. Let’s take a closer look at this unusual analogy .
Pizza and pineapple – it just isn’t supposed to be?
Real Italians consider it a kind of blasphemy if you put pineapple on a pizza. The combination of sweet pineapple and Italian spices would not be appropriate. And it’s not just pineapple that doesn’t belong on a pizza, they feel. Shoarma, bacon, chicken, broccoli, cream sauce, barbecue sauce, corn, and the combination of fish and cheese are also considered sacrilege in Naples.
And yet there are millions of people who greatly enjoy these kinds of criminally tasty toppings.
But what do Neapolitans really have to say about it? Because strictly speaking, they are not necessarily the inventor of pizza at all. Neapolitans have their own pride when it comes to pizza as we know it today. They consider it an essential part of their culture and heritage. In fact, variations of “flat bread” with a topping have been made in the countries around the Mediterranean for thousands of years, under names such as lahmacun (Turkey) and pide (Greece).
The anus is an exit; not an entrance
Similar to Italians’ passion for the perfect pizza, there are also anthropological and cultural beliefs that have shaped negative perceptions of anal sex. As vehement as Italians – and many others – are about pineapple on a piece of bread, many people are also outspoken about anal sex. It too should not be. This widespread prejudice stems primarily from cultural norms that have their origins in the Bible. Sodomy stems from the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis). The church considers all forms of sex not aimed at procreation as sodomy, but by sodomy is actually meant primarily anal sex. For centuries we have been instilled by the Church that anal sex is morally reprehensible. Something like pineapple on a pizza, in other words.
And yet there are millions of people who greatly enjoy sodomy (both in the broad sense of the word, and in the narrower definition of anal).
It’s an acquired taste
Is it a lack of experience that leads to a lack of openness and understanding? With both pizza Hawaii and anal sex, stigma plays a big role. Discussing these topics can create discomfort and resistance, which can hinder interest and acceptance.
But in the end, it comes down to your personal preference. If you shouldn’t think about it now, try to open yourself up to one anyway. Just as choosing pizza Hawaii is a personal taste reflection, sexual preferences are also deeply personal. Most importantly, give people the space to make their own choices without judgment.
So whether you prefer a classic or want to push your boundaries, remember: tastes differ. Let’s remain open to each other’s choices, whether it’s pizza topping or exploring new sexual experiences.
