Vania Zouravliov is a Russian visual artist and illustrator, who lives and works in the UK. He is best known for his dark, brooding images full of mystery and sensuality. His illustrations are a gothic mix of beauty and terrifying fear, of fantasy and eroticism, inspired by eclectic sources such as Dante’s “Divine Comedy,” Disney productions and Native American art. This mix has resulted in a unique ink style that is unmistakably Zouravliov’s.
His mother was a painter and an art teacher, and as a result, Vania Zouravliov began experimenting with his mother’s brushes and paints at a very young age. Vania developed an extremely skilled hand and eye for illustration and became a celebrated child prodigy in Russia. This led to several appearances on Russian television. By the age of 13, Zouravliov was already exhibiting internationally, and in 1997 he moved to Britain to study at Edinburgh College of Art.
His first published work appeared in the Eros Comix series in 2000. His most recent projects have been for Beck’s The Information and National Geographic.
