French artist and illustrator Loïc Dubigeon grew up in the western French port city of Nantes and, after leaving school, studied at the École d’Architecture in Paris. Logically, he became an architectural draughtsman. In the 1950s, he took up graphic design, including packaging and a series of scarves for the fashion house Hermés. He also created murals for buildings in France, New York and Saudi Arabia.
In the late 1960s, he moved to the Normandy coast in northern France, where he established his studio . There he painted his signature pastels and prints of coastal villages, cliffs and picnic parasols.
What not many people know is that in the late 1970s – towards the end of his life – he also produced a number of books, which included graphic, realistic drawings of sexual intimacy. Themes such as bondage, SM, anal and oral he depicted in minute detail with pencil and charcoal. Some of his drawings were used to illustrate Histoire d’O. Dubigeon has never tried to hide his work behind a pseudonym.
