The erotic art of John Kacere

John C. Kacere was an American painter who lived from 1920 to 1999. Throughout his career, John Kacere devoted his attention almost exclusively to idealized and highly sexualized depictions of the midsection of the female body dressed in revealing lingerie. Initially an abstract expressionist, Kacere adopted a photorealist style beginning in the 1960s, although he rejected this term as a description of his work. His larger-than-life images of the female form – usually lying on their sides in a horizontal picture plane – provoked criticism from feminists, to which Kacere replied, “Woman is the source of all life; the source of regeneration. My work praises that aspect of femininity.”
