A short while ago, I reviewed the Satisfyer Vibes Master. And – I am going to be honest with you – it performed pretty good, but I did have my doubts. So I decided to – eh – cross examine this big boy.
Spoiler alert: there is nothing wrong with the Satisfyer Vibes Master. He withstood all of the tests!
Why an endurance test?
After I had tested the Satisfyer Vibes Master with my partner, to write a review, I had to conclude that this is a great vibrator. But, it is clearly also a copy of the Fun Factory Big Boss.
This is not the forst time that Satisfyer copied a toy. In fact, all of their toys are a copy one way or another from a competitor. And often those were poor copies too. The early versions of theSatisfyer (de 1, 2, Pro2, Pro Penguin and Pro Deluxe) for example, were not waterproof, while they did claim them to be.
In my review I wrote that I have my doubts with the color fastness of the material of the Satisfyer Vibes Master.
So I questioned ‘what is it with the Satisfyer Vibes Master?’ Compared to the Fun Factory Big Boss, the Master doesn’t perform all that bad. But what if we would test it a little more intensive? How well would the battery, the motor, the quality of the material be and will it be fully waterproof?
Test 1: Constant on in position 12
The test: For the first test, I switched on the Master in position 12. In this position it runs in a varying pattern with high intensity.
Hypothesis: My assumption was that the engine of the Master could get overheated. I had to think of the stories of the early run hot Hitachi Magic Wands, that could even set fire if you’d use those for longer then an hour (but who does that?). Also, I was curious how long the battery would last.
Result: After exactly 40 minutes the Master stops completely. Just, switched off. My first reaction was that it might have thought that I fell asleep. You know, like when Netflix asks you after binge watching a couple of episodes of your favorite show if you are still watching. But when I switched it on again, it turned off after 10 seconds. The battery was certainly not empty. The Master did feel a little warm. Would it have some kind of heat protection?
Test 2: Constant running in position 12, wrapped in a towel
The test: I decided to repeat test 1 (after it was fully charged and completely cooled off), but now I wrapped the Master in a towel.
Hypothesis: When it would have a heat protection., the Master might stop quicker if I could make sure the heat couldn’t go away.
Result: Now the Satisfyer Master stopped after 20 minutes already. Again, the battery is clearly not empty. The Master doesn’t feel very warm though. To test if it really has some kind of heat protection, I let it cool down for 5 minutes. Then I switched it on in position 12 again. now the Master stops after 3 minutes. When I switch it on immediately in position 12 it already stops after 20 seconds. When I turn it on in position 1 (lowest intensity) the Master stops after 3 minutes. It appears it has some kind of heat protection. That’s a good thing, right?
Test 3: What about Fun Factory?
De test: Repeat test 1, but now with a Fun Factory.
Hypothesis: I started to wonder if I was completely honest to myself. I expected that a Fun Factory would last much longer than the Satisfyer. Both Fun Factory and Satisfyer are German brands. But the Satisfyer is assembled in China.
Result: For this test, you must know that the vibration patterns of the Satisfyer and the Fun Factory are almost exactly the same. When I run the Fun Factory in position 12, it also stops after 50 minutes. So the Fun Factory must have the same heat protection?
Just for a second, I considered to cut up both the Fun Factory as the Satisfyer to check if they perhaps had the same inner works, but that would be a shame of two perfect sex toys.
‘No vibrators have been harmed in this test’.
Test 4: Continuous in position 1
The test: After the Satisfyer Vibes Master was completely charged, I switched it on in position 1. This is the position with the lowest intensity with a steady vibration. I let it run continuously, wrapped in a towel.
Hypothesis: When the Master would indeed have a heat protection, it should run much longer in position 1.
Result: After more than an hour, the Master is still running with the same intensity. The battery does not appear to have gotten exhausted yet and it still feels as cool as it was in the beginning.
Test 5: Waterproof?
The test: I completely immersed the Satisfyer Vibes Master under water and have it run in different positions.
Hypothesis: If the Master is not 100% waterproof is, this test will show.
Result: I repeated this test several times. Each time, I immersed the Master for a longer time completely under water (each time longer than 10 minutes). The Master doesn’t seem to be bothered at all by this test.
Test 6: Color and odor
The test: Well, how am I going to test this device’s color fastness? Put it in sunlight? But how will I be able to tell if it has discolored? I decided to use Heinz Tomato Ketchup. I pored a vast amount of ketchup and have it stay on the Master for over an hour.
Hypothesis: Everyone that has ever used silicone backing products, knows that they can take on color and odor. I expected that the coloring agents in ketchup would lead to discoloration of the Master.
Result: After an hour I held the Satisfyer Vibes Master under running cold water. There wasn’t even a trace of discoloration. It did smell like ketchup though. This was gone after a couple of days.
I have no choice but to conclude that the Satisfyer Vibes Master passed the test with flying colors. There is no reason whatsoever to assume that the quality of the Saisfyer Vibes Master is inadequate.
The conclusion of my review was that this is an affordable vibrator with great deep and intense vibrations. But after this endurance test I must add that it is also of great quality.
