Japanese sex toy company Tenga has come up with something new again. Or, well, new. In any case, it’s brilliantly conceived. On Valentine’s Day 2024, Tenga will launch the Tenga Uni: a gel-like sleeve that anyone – no matter what gender – can use. Unisex and universal, in other words. And this makes Tenga one of the first companies in the world to develop a toy aimed at queer, trans, and non-binary couples. I got to be one of the first in the world to review it for Tenga.
What is the Tenga Uni?
The Tenga Uni is a gel-like stretchy sleeve that is textured on the outside. You can easily put it around your fingers to stimulate yourself with. Or you turn it inside out and put it around your penis. In that case, you stimulate the glans with that little structure.
I received a box from Tenga containing four different Tenga Unis: the Tenga Uni Emerald, Diamond, Topaz and Amethyst. They not only differ from each other in colour and texture, but also in the direction in which they are stretchy.
The Emerald, for instance, is mainly stretchy lengthwise and has rectangular bumps, making it especially suitable as a sleeve around the penis when jerking off. The Diamond is mostly stretchy in width and has pyramid-shaped structures, which make the thing especially suitable for stimulating the clitoris. The Topas is stretchable in both length and width and has circular structures, which should give a feeling of ‘rolling and plopping’. And finally, the Amethyst has overlapping structures that should give a sensation of sucking.
Anyway, Tenga proves once again that they are creative in coming up with new ways to stimulate yourself and your partner with these fun colourful and cheap toys (at the time of posting this blog, the price per piece was €6.90 and the price for a variety pack with 4 pieces was €27.20).

Unboxing
The Tenga Uni variants are available separately, but I was sent a ‘variety pack’ by Tenga, containing all four Unis. Each Uni comes in its own blister pack made of recycled paper and cardboard and a clear plastic cover. You can easily detach the Unis. Each Uni comes with a sachet of Tenga Play Gel; Tenga’s proprietary water-based lubricant for a single dose.
The test drive
Without knowing it, I had more or less come up with this concept myself before. In fact, the concept of this Tenga Uni is very similar to the Pocket and the Tenga Egg. Like the Tenga Pocket, the material of the Tenga Uni is a bit thinner than the Tenga Egg. But with all three products, I had mentioned before that you can also use them inside out. Not just around your fingers, but also, for example, around the head of a wand vibrator!
The material of the Tenga Uni is extremely stretchy and super soft. It is a little bit sticky though, yet it does not attract much dust.
To use it in a nice way, you do need to use some lubricant. Do so on the textured part. Tenga supplies a sachet of their own Tenga Play Gel with every Tenga Uni. Personally, I’m not a fan of this lubricant, mainly because of its viscosity (it threads and therefore quickly becomes a mess). I therefore recommend using your own water-based lubricant.
I generally like using a masturbation sleeve when jerking off. It just gives just a bit more stimulation than just your hand. And yes, we (my partner and I) had also occasionally used the Tenga Egg and Tenga Pocket when stimulating her vulva, for example by putting it over our favourite LELO Smart Wand.
Because the material is so flexible and soft, to be perfectly honest, the texture is a bit less distinctive than Tenga promises. With my eyes closed, I don’t think I would be able to feel which of the four my partner would use on me. But that doesn’t make it any less delicious!
Cleaning
Tenga says this is a single-use product. Nevertheless, you can rinse this product very easily under the lukewarm tap, possibly with some mild soap. You can then do a few with it.
Do keep in mind that – despite what Tenga says – TPE is a porous material. As a result – no matter how well you wash and rinse and even if you use toy cleaner – bacteria can still get into it. For external use, this need not be a problem. But don’t go putting the sleeve on your penis and penetrating your partner with it, especially if you’ve already used it a few times.
Conclusion
Yes, clever of Tenga, isn’t it? A toy that is gender-neutral and that you can use in different ways, either solo or with and with your partner. Tenga describes two ways of use: around the fingers and around the penis during manual sex (fingering and jerking off). But you can also use the Tenga Uni around the head of your wall vibrator for extra stimulation.

The cons:
- he lubricant threads and sticks
