Tenga is a Japanese brand that is well known for its innovative toys. You may know them from the Tenga Egg and the Tenga Air Vacuum Cup. The Tenga Flex is another variant on their reusable masturbators. And yes, I love ’em. So when EasyToys asked me if I’d like to test one, I wholeheartedly said ‘yes’!
What is a Tenga Flex?
A Tenga Flex is – just like her sisters (because I assume that masturbators are feminine?) – a sex toy to put your penis in. By moving the masturbator, it is just a matter of moments for your orgasm to arrive.
But what makes this Tenga so ‘flex’? Well, let me enlighten you. The Tenga Flex consists of a soft flexible shell with some kind of spiral shape. Tenga won a Red Dot Award dor the design. In that shell, there is a removable ‘sleeve’, made of soft TPE. Each Tenga model has its own texture on the inside of that sleeve. Further more, the shell has an air hole. By placing your finger on that hole, the shell will become vacuum, making the suction much stronger while you move it up and down.
If you clean your Tenga Flex after each use, you will be able to use it many times.
You can use this masturbator solo, but why not ask your partner to use it on you?
Unboxing
It must be said: Tenga products are very discrete. Unsuspecting persons might just think you have a thermos, or a pice of art. The Tenga Flex comes in a see through package.
The package contains a message that tells you that it ensures a ‘strong spiraling stimulation’, accompanied with the tag-line ‘time to unwind’. I see what you did there, Tenga. Nice one.
The Tenga Flex comes with a small sample of water based lube, which should be just enough for a first time use. So when you want to use the Tenga Flex more often (and – spoiler alert – you will), it will be good to have a bottle of water based lube at hand. The supplied lube contains water (duh), and thickening agents, like glycerine and sodium polyacrylaat. On top of that it also contains EDTA and sorbitan oleolate (that soothens the skin), preservatives (ethanol, parabenes) and fragrances. According to European and American legislation, the product is perfectly safe. However, there is some discussion about parabenes in lube. Some people might get allergic reactions. So if you are sensitive to parabenes, leave the sample and use a parabene free lube.
There is also a manual in English, German, French, Spanish and Korean in the package. If your language is not part of those, the images in either of the other languages should be clear enough.
The sleeve is made of Thermo Plastic Elastomer (TPE). This is a flexible and soft type of rubber that feels like actual skin. When you take the sleeve out of the shell, and turn it inside out, you will be able to look at the internal texture. The small twigs at the entrance and the different bumps and lumps will stimulate the penis when you move the Tenga up and down. TPE is a porous material, by the way. So it is best to not share it with just anyone.
The closing cap of the Tenga has some pestle attached to it. This has two functions. First of all it will ensure that the TPE will not stick when you don’t use it. But more importantly, when you have removed the sleeve from the shell to clean it, you will not get it back in unless you use the pestle.
The depth of the Tenga Flex is 14.5 centimeter. When your penis is longer that that, it is no problem at all. It just won’t fit in all the way. The diameter is 1.5 to 5 centimeter. When your penis is thicker than 5 centimeter or thinner than 1.5 centimeter in girth, it just won’t fit.
There is also a Tenga Flex White available. That one is softer and less tight than the black one I’ve tested. The Tenga Flex Black has it’s own internal texture. The structure might look like horrifying at first, but the TPE is so soft and flexible that it will only feel great. Trust me.
The ‘test drive’
Lube is always recommended when using a sex toy, but with the Tenga Flex it’s mandatory. No way you can do without. I didn’t use the little sample from Tenga. It felt a little sticky and it contains some ingredients that I rather avoid. That’s why I just used some water based lube from EasyGlide that I had left.
The first time I used the Tenga Flex Black, I noticed it was really tight. I had to apply some extra lube. But then the actual use could begin.
Tenga promises that you will experience some kind of twisting sensation when you move it up and down. Well, to be honest, I din’t feel much of that. But, god it felt good. The suction when you close the air hole is not as strong as with the Tenga Air Tech, but still quite noticeable. When you apply sufficient lube, you can make your own twisting movements and I really recommend you to try that! That way you will really be able to feel the different textures. The soft shell is a true feature. It makes this Tenga easy to handle. The ‘grip’ of the sleeve is really tight. It cost me very little effort to orgasm. After that first use, I tried the Tenga Flex yet another couple of times and I must say, by experimenting you will be able to find new ways to enjoy the texture and sucking power. For example: just moving up and down with your finger on the air hole, slow small movements with a little twist, penetrate as deep as possible and make small movements, etc.
After using it, you can easily remove the sleeve. Turn it inside out and keep it under warm running water. Use some disinfecting soap if you like. Now blot it with a dry cloth, turn it back and now dry the outside. Leave it to air dry and then place it back in the shell for next use, by pushing the pestle in.
Conclusion
The Tenga Flex is a great masturbator. Especially when you like a firm grip, you will like this one. I can recommend the Tenga flex to every person with a penis.
The pros of the Tenga Flex:
- Soft material (TPE) with a nice texture
- Extra suction power that you can somehow adjust
- Easy to clean
- Multiple use
- Great grip
- Discrete package, easy to take along
- Can be used under the shower or in the bathtub
- Clear manual
The cons:
