I sort of have a love-hate relationship with Cock-rings. Although, hate is probably expressed a little too strongly. You see, I understand what the added value can be, in certain positions. But in other positions, a vibrating cock ring sometimes adds very little. That’s why I was rather skeptical at first when I started testing the Svakom Tyler.

What is the Svakom Tyler?

Svakom is a company founded in 2012 in the US. Since then, they have been making high-quality sex toys. I have already compared the quality of their products to that of LELO (and I think that’s pretty much the top).

The Svakom Tyler is a vibrating cock ring. Svakom calls this a ‘Couples’ Rechargeable Clitoris Stimulating Vibrating Penis Ring’. And although that is quite a mouth full, it is true. The intention is for the man of the couple to put the cock ring around the penis and thereby stimulate the clitoris during penetration (penis-in-vagina).

So, the Svakom Tyler is specially designed for (straight male / female) couples. OK, technically you could also put the Tyler on a dildo, but why would you?

Because the ring slightly restricts the blood supply of the penis, it helps the man to have a long lasting and harder erection. The vibrations help the woman to get ready faster. And there is the added value of a vibrating cock ring: as a couple you can perhaps have a mutual/simultaneous orgasm. Personally, I think that simultaneous orgasms are greatly overvalued. But it never hurts to work on your stamina as a man, or to orgasm faster (or more often) as a woman.

Specs & functies of the Svakom Tyler

The ‘test drive’

When using a vibrating cock ring it is mainly about a few things. The first is the fit for the penis. And that of course depends on the thickness of the penis. The material is quite stretchable. So stretchy in fact, that it could fit around your wrist. Yet the Tyler is pretty tight. I always recommend wearing a cock ring if the penis is not (yet) at its fullest. Always put some water-based lubricant on the ring before you put it on. This makes it easier to move it, for example if you are going to try another position. Also pay attention to how you put the ring on. It is intended that the part of the vibrating ‘bump’ where the nubs are will hit the clitoris.

Then there is the operation. And I think that is very clever in this case! Th operation of the Tylor is equivalent to the operation of other Svakom products. If you press the ‘S’ button on the side for a few seconds, the Tyler starts to vibrate at the middle constant vibration. Every time you press the button, you go to the next speed. After the highest speed you go back to the lowest. This way you click through five different speeds. If you ‘double-click’ the ‘S’ button, you will move to a different pattern. Every time you double-click, you change the pattern. There are also five patterns (including the constant vibration). You can change each pattern in speed by clicking once. I think that is very clever. Just one button, yet so versatile. And if you don’t like vibrating patterns, then you don’t have to click through it. Awesome! At least … on the dry. Because it is quite difficult to find that button during intimacy. One click is still possible, but double clicking (with your hand between two bodies) is quite a challenge. Before you know it, you want to click twice, but you only managed to click once, so you don’t go to a different pattern, but to a different speed.

Finally there is the vibration. It is indeed very quiet and yet quite powerful. I always hope that as a man I also get some of those vibrations, but that is (and that is often the case with vibration cock rings) minimal with the Tyler. You could turn the Svakom Tyler in such a way that it does not vibrate against the clitoris, but rather against your balls, but then ‘she’ has no use for it. Whether you as a woman get something from the vibrations, depends mainly on the position. Are you really going to make thrust in and out, then a vibration cock ring is of little use. No, it’s all about riding against each other more intimately. Positions such as cowgirl (she on top), or missionary are perfect!

My partner (female) did not always like the studs. Only if we put enough lubricant on it, she enjoy sitting on the Tyler.

Cleaning the Svakom Tyler

You can simply completely immerse the Svakom Tyler in water, because it is 100% waterproof. That makes it fairly easy to clean this thing. The venom is in those ridges and studs. To be able to intervene properly with cleaning, you almost need a (soft) brush. The transition between the shiny part and the silicone can also be a source of bacteria. If you do not wait (too) long before cleaning, then you should be able to flush it fairly clean. Some mild soap or toy-cleaner can help.

Conclusion

Of all the vibrating cock rings I have tried, this is one of the best. I found it nice and tight and the material feels soft and comfortable. Use enough water-based lubricant, both on the ring (to be able to move the thing) and on the ‘bump’ with nubs that comes against the clitoris. The nubs on that ‘bump’ might feel too intense for some women. I / we especially recommend it to couples / women who like some rough stimulation of the clitoris.
