If there is anything that is underrated, it is the usefulness of lubricant. It just makes sex a lot more comfortable. Not just when your vagina just isn’t wet enough by itself (anymore), but also when – for whatever reason – you just need a little more ‘wet’. Anyone, but really anyone, can make their sex life more enjoyable with lube. Whether that’s to facilitate penetration, to lubricate your sex toy, when masturbating, when fingering and jerking off, when using a condom… trust me, lube!
What is Some Lube?
Some is a brand of the Dutch company Cobeco Pharma. They have been making cosmetic, grooming and sexual wellness products such as lube, cosmetics and nutritional supplements for more than 25 years.
Some Lube is a 100% natural vegan water-based lubricant. It has a neutral pH and can be used with rubber latex condoms. Furthermore, the packaging is made from recycled materials. This lube is odourless, colourless and tasteless.
Specifications
Some Lube contains:
- Aqua: water. Basic ingredient.
- Propanediol: an emulsifier, which makes the different ingredients mix better. Furthermore, it is a moisturiser and prevents the lubricant from drying out. In small amounts, as in this lubricant, it is not harmful.
- Glycerin: This makes your lubricant feel slippery and jelly-like. Whether glycerin is harmful has not been scientifically proven. Some say it can cause a fungal infection and others say it does not. If you are prone to vaginal yeast infections and want to be on the safe side, you might want to opt for a glycerin-free lubricant.
- Xanthan Gum: Makes the lubricant feel thicker. It is made from corn sugar and is harmless.
- Sodium Benzoate: This is a preservative (E211) and is harmless.
- Inulin: A plant fibre that helps benign bacteria. It is found, for example, in asparagus and banana. In cosmetics, it is used to increase skin tolerance.
- Sodium Lactate: Sodium lactate is a safe preservative with high water retention capacity
- Potassium Sorbate: This adjuvant runs the growth of fungi, yeast and bacteria and is thus a preservative.
- Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide: This middle is used in skin care products to keep the skin supple and soft. It protects the skin’s natural defences.
- Lactic Acid: This ensures the correct pH of the vagina and promotes healthy flora.
Unboxing Some Lube
The manufacturer claims the packaging material is made of recycled rPET material. So the cardboard box and plastic vial would be sustainable. I can’t test that, but I’ll just assume so. Anyway, the packaging and the vial look attractive.

Then again, the name ‘Some lube’ strikes me as a marketing blunder first class. If you google ‘Some Lube’, you’re really just searching for ‘some lube’, which leads you to websites like ‘your guide for lube’, ‘best lubes and what you should avoid’, or even competing brands’ websites. The actual website of this brand (hellosome.com) simply does not show up in my search results at all. Fortunately, the box contains a QR code that takes you to the website.
The lubricant comes in a bottle with a pump. You can easily remove that pump from the lock by turning it a quarter turn. I’m still not sure whether a dispensing pump is good or not. The advantage of a dosage pump is that you can easily take the right amount. The disadvantage can be that sometimes some lubricant remains attached to the pump, which can dry out or spoil. Also, some pumps tend to suck some back up. Other brands swear that it’s better not to use a pump. But I find it mostly convenient. Do what you want with this information….
The test drive
Just to drop the door in the proverbial house: we (my partner and I) are fans! This is really good stuff. Just apart from the composition and that it is vegan and natural, this lubricant has a few features that are just really nice to use.

For example, this lubricant is not ‘runny’. As a result, it is not a mess when you apply it. Another important feature is that it works for a very long time. It doesn’t soak into the skin too quickly, so you can enjoy it for a while. It is also nice that it is odourless, tasteless, and colourless. And finally, I especially love that it doesn’t feel sticky and doesn’t ‘thread’.
And because it is water-based lube, it is also very easy to rinse off with some water.
Conclusion
Some lube 100% natural lubricant is a very fine lubricant that does not stick and works for a long time. It is a very ‘accessible’ lubricant for anyone who can appreciate lubricant when having sex (for whatever reason).
