Was it a total coincidence that EasyToys mailed me to review the Master Series Thunder Wrap, just when I was watching the thing in the online shop? Or is there no such thing as coincidence and was this meant to be?
What is a Thunder Wrap?
Wand vibrators are just great. Right? They have the strongest vibrations and weather you own a vagina or a penis (or just have a back ache); no one can do without.
But a wand vibrator is nothing but a big vibrating knob. And that’s why there are many different attachments, that can turn your wand vibrator into something else. A masturbator for example, like with this Thunder Wrap.
Master Series is a brand with some quite extreme sex toys, that would not ne out of place in a BDSM dungeon. With that in mind, I could see the Thunder Wrap in different kinds of play, like in ‘forced orgasm’, or ‘edging’, together with a Dominatrix that would be dressed for the occasion. Maar dat neemt natuurlijk niet weg dat je But of course you could also just use the Thunder Wrap in solo play.
Specs and functions
The Thunder Wrap is made of highly flexible TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). That is a kind of synthetic rubber that is very elastic. It fits standard sized wand vibrators with a head of 5.5 to 6 centimeters, like the Europe Magic Wand, the Doxy Die Cast, or (my absolute favorite) the LELO Smart Wand Large.
The top is a kind of flap that can be wrapped around the penis like, … well uhm, like what exactly? A scarf? The inside is filled with soft studs.
The idea is of course that the vibrations of the wand vibrator will be transferred around the penis. Like you’re being held by some strong vibrating shaft.
Sound good, right? Exactly my idea!
Unboxing
The box of the Thunder Wrap is functional and leaves little to the imagination. The pictures are very clear and explain how this product is supposed to be used. The attachment sits in a transparent plastic box inside the package.
What struck me was that the TPE was a bit sticky. It also attrackts a lot of dust and hairs. Fortunately, this device doesn’t go ‘inside’ the body, but just ‘around’ the penis.
The ‘test drive’
The material of the Thunder Wrap is super-elastic. The ‘flap’ is even a bit ‘weak’. I first pulled it over the head of my My Magic Wand. It fitted nice and tight. Great.
I just hadn’t paid attention to the position of the flap in relation to the buttons of the wand. I couldn’t quite reach them. Fortunately, the thing goes off easily. Just turned it a quarter-turn and tried again.
It soon became clear that the elasticity of the material has a major flaw. It absorbs the vibrations largely. And the flap doesn’t have a tight ‘grip’. On top of that, the My Magin Wand is kinda noisy, so I decided to switch to my ‘all time favorite’ LELO Smart Wand Large.
The Thunder Wrap fitted fine. The vibrations of the LELO are much deeper and so they lasted better, so to speak. Mêh, this felt much better. Now, just added some water based lube and get the party started.
I must say I was a little disappointed. Yes, it was nice, but I prefer masturbators with a little more ‘grip’, or even some suction. This felt rather nice, but it was a bit weak around the penis. And the ends of the flaps ‘flapped’ a bit strangely against the penis. To demonstrate this, I made a video where I placed the Thunder Wrap ‘around’ my Satisfyer Vibes Master. See what I mean?
The vibrations are felt best against the back of my penis (the frenulum). It is a teasing kind of vibration that did get me in the mood. Especially the position on the LELO where the vibrations steplessly swell. Boy, that made me impressively hard!
I have an average size penis. When I used it it looked similar as on the pictures. So I assume I did everything right. And with a porn video to go with it, an orgasm was just around the corner. But somehow I longed for the Fun Factory Manta, that has smaller flaps, but a lot more grip and stronger vibrations. The best way to use the Thunder Wrap is to squeeze the flaps around the penis with your free hand. You will feel the vibrations much stronger. But is that really the way to use a wand attachment like this?
Cleaning and storage
TPE is a porous material that contains phtalates. Just another reason you should be glad this isn’t going inside anywhere.
Cleaning is done under running water. Than let it air dry and you can store it. Just don’t store it next to other toys. The phtalates might damage them when it comes into direct contact. So you better put it in a bag made of cloth (not plastic, because of the phtalates). A storage bag is not included, though.
Conclusion
When you own a standard sized wand vibrator, you can make it a lot more versatile with attachments like the Thunder Wrap. The investment is relatively limited.
If you’re into ‘edging’ and ‘tease and denial’ play, the Thunder Wrap might be a nice addition. But if you are looking for toys with a bit grip and suction, you are better of with a different masturbator.
The pros of the Master Series Thunder Wrap:
- Flexible material, fits on every standard sized wand vibrator with a head of 5.5 to 6 centimeter
- Studs give a nice sensation
- Very easy to use
- Cleaning is a breeze
The cons:
- The vibrations are getting absorbed for a large part by the soft material. What you will feel depends strongly on the power of the wand vibrator you have.
- The flap has very little grip
- TPE is a porous material that contains phtalates. Store it seperately.
- No storage bag included
The Master Series Thunder Wrap is available at EasyToys, or in the NBRplaza shop.
