Sometimes I can get so happy when I get to test a sex toy. And this time that was definitely the case. At the beginning of this year Lovense launched, next to the Lush 3, the Diamo. This is a vibrating penis ring that you can control – at a distance – with an app. I was already a fan of the Lush, but would I also become a fan of the Diamo? And maybe even more important: is the Diamo worth putting your hard-earned money into?

If you use the words “innovation” and “sex toy” in the same sentence, I’m eager to try it out. For example, I’ve already tested a toy with Artificial Intelligence that mimicked a blowjob and tried teledildonics sets. As a proud owner of a penis, I am very pleased that there are toys that also pay attention to other erogenous zones and with Lovense you know that you are getting quality.

A word of warning: You can’t finish a review of a toy this versatile with few words.

Lovense first cock ring: the Diamo

First, let me tell you why I was excited beforehand. You see, Lovense is an innovative company that makes high-quality sex toys that you can use alone or with a partner. Their Lovense Lush is legendary because it allows cam models have their clientele’s take over the operation of the toy for a fee, to name a something.

As you may expect from Lovense, the Diamo has become a toy where quite some time was spent in research. It is not just a penis ring with a dull vibrator attached to it.

The Lovense Diamo is a toy that is (also) excellent for men with erection dysfunctions.

What is the Lovense Diamo exactly?

The Lovense Diamo is a Q-shaped vibrating penis ring. But not just any kind. You can wear the ring in different ways, to stimulate yourself, or your partner. For example, you can use it to stimulate your perineum (the part between the scrotum and the anus), the balls, or your partner’s clitoris.

The ring is meant to go around the balls as well as the penis. Exactly what you stimulate depends on the direction you place the protruding part. As with all penis rings, the Diamo is intended to slightly constrict the blood flow, making the erection harder and longer lasting. This makes it a toy that is (also) excellent for men with erection problems.

Now of course there are thousands of vibrating penis rings on the market, so what makes the Diamo so different? That’s mainly the powerful vibrations and the ability to control the Diamo with an app. Without an app, you have seven different vibration patterns at your disposal. Shortly after the launch of this game, Lovense announced a partnership with Camsoda. This is a site with erotic web cam models. Through this collaboration you can use the Diamo while having virtual sex with one of the models. Some models also have Lovense toys and through Camsoda you can link your toy to the model’s toy (for example the Lush 3). This way you can literally feel what she is doing. Unboxing the Lovense Diamo

If you’re not excited by the specs and features upfront, you will be when you unwrap the box. Lovense just gets it! The box contains the Diamo (duh), a storage pouch, a quick reference with clear pictures, an extensive manual and a magnetic USB charging cable. This is what makes me happy. How often do you miss a storage pouch? Or a manual? Plus, the battery is fully charged, so you can get started right away!

The testdrive

The possibilities with the Lovense Diamo are endless. You can use it solo, or during sexual contact with a partner, or just together with someone at a distance, in the bedroom or just in public places.

Let’s start with how Lovense intended to use the Diamo. Before you put the Diamo on, think about what you are going to do with it. That will determine from which side you need to put your penis through the hole. Whatever you do, first put some (water-based) lubricant on the toy, your scrotum and your penis. This will make it easier to put on the Diamo and to move it around during use.

Then you first put your balls – carefully – through the ring. It’s a bit of a fiddle, because the Diamo’s ring is not at all stretchy. But believe me, with some fiddling it is doable and once you get the hang of it, it even works quite quickly.

It is also important that you put on the Lovense Diamo when you do not yet have an erection. If the ring is around your balls, you still have to put your penis through the ring. Something you will never succeed in doing with a hard-on. Some reviews on Amazon, for example, say it is impossible to put on the Diamo because the ring is not flexible. I admit that it is not easy at first, but it is certainly not impossible. For me it worked best by standing up, but even then a stubborn ball sometimes flopped out unintentionally before the penis was in place through the ring.

There is only one button on the Lovense Diamo. By holding that down for a few seconds, you get into a “standby” position. The Diamo is then ready for use. Now by pressing the button again briefly, the Diamo will vibrate in the first position. Each time you press, you run through the seven other patterns (three continuously, four patterns to be precise).

You can also control the Lovense Diamo from the standby position with the Lovense Remote app. To do this, of course, you must first download the app on your smartphone. The app will help you super easy with pairing the Diamo via bluetooth. After installation the app will also update the firmware of your toy (if needed). Once paired, you can create your own patterns, or you can make the vibrations harder or softer by hovering your fingers over your screen. There’s also a music mode on the app, which allows you to make the vibrations sway with music on your smartphone or sounds in the environment. It even has a wake-up function (wake up to vibrations around your penis). Finally, you can also invite someone else to remotely control your toy. To do this, your Diamo must be linked to your phone and you both must have an internet connection. Imagine you’re at a restaurant together and your partner is in control. Or your partner is abroad and has another Lovense toy. You can play with each other remotely.

If you want to use the Lovense Diamo with a partner, you can also enjoy the powerful vibrations together. It does depend a bit on how you wear it and what positions you do. That requires some experimentation in the beginning. The missionary position always works, or positions where she is on top. But even in the doggy style position, the Diamo can be a lot of fun.

Besides the obvious ways to use the Lovense Diamo, you can of course also let your imagination run wild. Although for most men the ring is too large to be worn only around the penis (inner diameter is almost 5 cm), it can be really nice – with quite a bit of lubricant – to move the Diamo up and down along the penis. That way you can let the vibrations go along the head of the penis and the frenulum as well. And although Lovense says that this penis toy does not go into the anus, there is nothing to stop you from doing so. To do so, you don’t put the ring on the penis, but on your fingers. Then you can use the protruding part to penetrate the anus, or the vagina of yourself or your partner (be sure to clean it well before going from the anus to the vagina). As I said, the bigger your fantasy, the more versatile the toy becomes!

Cleaning & Maintenance

A magnetic charger only works if the magnet is powerful enough to stay put and that is certainly the case with the Lovense Diamo. After 70 minutes of charging you can play with it for at least 4 hours.

After use, you can easily rinse the Lovense Diamo under the tap. Optionally, you can use an old toothbrush to clean the small stimulating ridges on the top of the protruding part. Do not use any cleaning agents. Even though the Diamo is waterproof, do not take it into a chlorinated pool or into the sea, as this will definitely discolor the silicone.

Conclusion

The Lovense Diamo is a very versatile penis ring with very powerful vibrations. I might not directly recommend this toy if you have never worn a (vibrating) penis ring before. But if you like to experiment, know what diameter you need and what material could work for you, like to give up control, or like sex from a distance, and you have a sloppy €120 to spare, then this is definitely worth the investment. As a sextoy tester, I have had the opportunity to try many penis rings in my life, and I dare say that Lovense has really understood what this type of toy is all about.
