Sex toys are a great addition to anyone’s sex life. But if there’s one thing that sets a toy apart from a flesh-and-blood human being, it’s that they often feel rather cold. Fortunately, more and more warming toys have been appearing on the market lately. The Lora Dicarlo Tilt is one such example.
What is the Lora Dicarlo Tilt?
Lora Dicarlo is a relatively young company started in 2017 by Lora Haddock DiCarlo. She started a collaboration with Oregon State University’s Robotics & Engineering Lab to develop an innovative toy. And she succeeded. So well, in fact, that this first toy won a prestigious CES award. However, that award was withdrawn again (because of sex) and as a result, Dicarlo was in the news worldwide. In the few years that her company has existed, it has launched more than 11 products, including a whole range of heating toys.
The Tilt is a warming toy for both people who have a penis, and people who have a vagina. Because of its ergonomic design, you can use it to stimulate the G-spot and clitoris, or the prostate (P-spot) and perineum.
Specs & functies of the Lora Dicarlo Tilt
This toy has two motors and a heating element, all three of which can be operated independently. Each motor has seven intensity settings and three vibration patterns.
The toy is fully waterproof and can be charged with the included USB cable that can magnetically snap onto the toy.
The built-in WarmSense Technology heats up the toy to just above your body temperature (40 degrees Celsius). It is protected in such a way that the toy will never get hotter than that. This brand uses a material that is blended with nylon, which conducts and retains heat up to 15x better than other materials. All of Lora Dicarlo’s toys are finished with a soft silicone layer.
The toy comes with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Unboxing the Lora Dicarlo Tilt
Dicarlo gets it! This is how luxury sex toys should be packaged. But really, though. The tilt is in a box with a cardboard wrapper. When you take the box out of the wrapper, it flips open like a book. On one side is the Tilt, and on the other is a clear instruction booklet, a warranty card, and a box that contains the charging cable and a cheerful yellow storage pouch.
The whole design exudes ‘wellness’ rather than ‘sex’. And – if you ask me – that underlines the gender-neutral function of this product. I have tested over 150 toys, but I was really impressed with the packaging and design of the Lora Dicarlo Tilt. Chappeau!
Taking the Lora Dicarlo Tilt for a testdrive
As soon as you start using the Tilt, you immediately see and feel that it is a luxury toy that has been very well thought out. For example, you can operate the three functions (heating, internal vibration and external vibration) separately from each other. For each function there is a separate button. By pressing the button, you go to a higher intensity (there are seven intensity programs and three patterns). After the last pattern, you turn off the vibrations. And on top of that, there’s an on/off button, which immediately stops all functions as soon as you want it to. Super convenient!
The vibrations from the internal motor are really very good! They are very deep and rumbling. The ones from the external arm are a bit higher in frequency and therefore a bit more buzzing.
It takes a half to a full minute before you feel the heating. It is only felt in the top of the internal part. The heat is very nice and has a relaxing effect. I wish there were more toys with this feature. The heat function does take quite a bit out of the battery, so make sure you have the toy fully charged before using all three functions at once.
The toy is gender neutral and can be used both vaginally (G-spot, clitoris), and anally (P-spot / perineum). A small safety warning is in order: make sure you always clean the toy thoroughly after anal use, before you insert it vaginally. A bacterial infection can be easily contracted.
So in theory, this is a fantastic toy. I love that after the last pattern you don’t automatically go back to position ‘1’, for example. Still, I miss a remote control. Because once the toy is inside you, you have to operate the little buttons by touch, and that’s not always easy.
Also, the head of the internal arm is quite thick (3.1 cm). If you plan to use the Tilt anally, this is a bit on the hefty side and certainly not for beginners. Always use plenty of water-based lubricant and make sure your sphincter is extremely relaxed (for example, by using a smaller toy or a finger first).
The internal vibrations are wonderfully deep with both vaginal use and anal use. I tested the Tilt with my partner (female) and she was quite impressed. Together with the external vibrations, it produced a pleasant orgasm. I myself could not generate a hands-free orgasm when used as a P-spot / perineum stimulation, but it did provide a wonderful extra stimulation.
What I did find a bit unfortunate is that the little arm is not flexible at all. The curved head of the inner part is cool, but still it would have been nice if you could adjust the angle.
Because the Tilt is completely waterproof, you can clean it under the tap. With a washcloth and some mild soap or toy cleaner, the thing is easy to clean.
Conclusion
That heat function, … it makes all the difference. There are more G-spot and P-spot toys that vibrate nice and rumbly, but there are very few that feel so nice and warm. That warmth is very nice and relaxing and is really an added value. Of course, you can warm up any toy by holding it under the hot tap, or under your armpit. But this warming feature gives more heat and also holds that heat longer.
Furthermore, the vibrations from the internal arm are really wonderfully deep. You can use the Tilt in many different ways. Especially since you can set all the functions separately from each other. The head of the internal part can also be used to hold against the clitoris or the glans and is the toy for both her and him.
