In 2017 the Mimic from Clandestine Devices was brought to market. This vibrator was widely praised for its innovative design, but also slated by reviewers for its poor performance. Now that same company has created a new and improved version:the Clandestine Mimic Plus!
What is a Mimic Plus?
The Clandestine Mimic Plus is a vibrator with a very special shape, that kind of resembles some kind of stingray. Clandestine has listened well to the criticism on their first version and made a number of improvements to the Mimic. The Mimic Plus is somewhat bigger and heavier than its predecessor, the buttons have changed and there is a new charging system. But perhaps most importantly the vibrations have become more deeper.

Its design has stayed the same, more or less. It stil has the shape of a flatfish with wings. Now, that may sound a little demeaning, but that is not how I meant it. This special shape makes it fit well in the hand and to the anatomy of the vulva.
Clandesitine devices does a lot of effort to describe this product as a gender neutral sex toy: ‘designed for everyone and can be enjoyed by anyone’. I (male) have tested the Mimic Plus on request of EasyToys together with my partner (female) to see if they can live up to this.
Specs & functions
The specifications of the Clandestine Mimic Plus are promising. It has 8 vibration patterns that can be set to 6 different intensity levels. Furthermore, the Mimic is made of high quality and bodysafe silicone and is fully waterproof.
Small toys should go with you on vacation, so it’s good to know that the Mimic Plus as a travel lock, so it won’t turn on by accident in your luggage.
The charging cable is magnetic. After two hours of charging it is ready for use and then you can play with it for another two hours untill it has to be recharged again. There is also a small LED light in it (god knows why).
Unboxing

Unfortunately there was little to ‘unbox’ this time. That is to say that EasyToys gave me a testers version of the Mimic. That is exactly the same device, just not in a fancy box. So I can’t tell you anything about the package, this time.
This Clandestine Mimic Plus came with a USB charging cable and a manual. I got the grey one, but there is also a Mimic Plus in pink.
The ‘test drive’
I never tested the predecessor of the Mimic Plus – that still is being sold as the Mimic – so I can’t compare the two. My partner and I agree that the design of the Mimic Plus is really awesome. No vulgar porn, but rather subtle eroticism. The material is very soft and it feels great on the hand. This is such a beautiful toy!

Charging
In order to charge the Mimic Plus, you’d have place the magnetic end of the charging cable on the two dots of the Mimic. I have seen this earlier at Fun Factory and it works for them. But the magnetic ends of the Mimic Plus are just not that strong and the cable is a bit rigid. So at the slightest touch the cable let loose. We had to have some patience while charging and let the Mimic at ease.
The controls
Once the Mimic Plus is fully charged, you can switch it on by pressing the center button. It will start to vibrate at the middle intensity. With the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons, you can change the intensity and by pressing the center button, you can scroll through the patterns. The Mimic Plus is remarkably silent while the vibrations are impressively deep.

The ‘buttons’ are very modest, however. They work well ‘on the dry’, but can be somewhathard to find in when the heat is on.
Even without a manual, the Mimic Plus is easy to operate.
The Mimic Plus and the vulva
It is clear that Products knows about the anatomy of the vulva. They managed to create an ergonomic toy with which you can stimulate the vulva in all kind of ways. The vibrations are rumbly throughout the entire device. The wings stimulate the labia, while the tip vibrates against the clitoris. Adding some water based lube will alow you to slide the Mimic Plus against the entire vulva and by pushing it slightly you will even feel just that extra vibration.
My partner described the feeling as ‘an intense vibrating hug for the vulva’. Despite of the minimal dimensions, it manages to create deep vibrations, that made her orgasm in no time.
The Mimic Plus and the penis

So the Mimic plus works on the shapes of the vulva, but will it work on the penis as well? Personally I just love vibrations to the frenulum. The vibrations of the Mimic Plus are quite deep, but the shape of it is just a little less well designed for the penis. Yes, it does have a hollow part that can be slid against the shaft, but in that case the Mimic Plus just doesn’t fit well in the hand. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a great feeling and big fun during foreplay, but it is just not well designed as a penis toy.
Cleaning
The Mimic Plus is 100% waterproof. Which means you can take it with you under the shower or in bath, but it is also easy to clean under running water.
Conclusion
The Clandestine Mimic Plus is a very special sex toy that is beautifully designed and has impressive deep vibrations for such a small toy. It is a perfect toy for persons with a vulva, but is also nice for persons with a penis. That makes this a great toy for mutual stimulation during foreplay as a couple, or for solo masturbation.
Forget everything you’ve ever read about its predecessor (the Mimic), because Clandestine has managed to improve all the negative parts of it!
