Only 35% of male hetero millennials perform oral sex on their girlfriend. This was shown in American research conducted by Cosmopolitan and SKYN condoms.
The research was conducted among 2,000 persons from ‘generation Z’ (18-22) and ‘millennials’ (23 – 38) from the USA and Canada. Some men from these group only go down for the first time when they get somewhat older. Fourteen percent of 18 to 22 year olds say they ‘don’t think it’s necessary’. Almost half of 18 to 27 year olds are more comfortable having penetrative sex than giving oral sex, as opposed to 32 percent of 28 to 32 year olds.
Why men won’t go down
The results of the survey may not be very surprising, when you know that it was conducted in North America. It is well known that sex ed leaves much to be desired. the culture is sex phobic and sex ed lessons at school are not accurate, open or honest. Students are lucky if they’re taught how to put on a condom . Oral sex is hardly ever discussed.
The media are also to blame. In films, series and porn, men receive oral sex, but hardly ever give it. And even if it is shown, it is very hard to see what is going on.
Finally, the current dating scene is focused on fast sex. The research shows that 37 percent of 18 to 22 year olds don’t perform oral sex when they don’t know the woman very well. It isn’t surprising that in these short relationships, oral sex is not on the menu.
Female self-esteem
The image women have of their vulvas doesn’t make it any better. They are taught (in America – red.) that their vaginas are gross and smelly. Men also say in the survey, that it’s nasty, its stinks, it tastes bad and even that it is too hairy.
Researchers women will not ask for oral sex because of this image.
Knowledge and skills
On the other hand, this research also shows that men – once they know more about it – develop better skills. No less than 51 percent of the men above 33 believe that they can make their partner come by oral sex, as opposed to 41 percent of men ages 18 to 22.
Why oral sex?
Most women are only able to orgasm when their clitoris is directly stimulated. For them, it is just as impossible to orgasm without direct clitoral contact, as it would be for men without touching their penis.
Women could play a role by educating men by showing where and how they like to be touched.
