For sexologists, the so-called orgasm gap is an interesting phenomenon to study. This is the phenomenon that men ejaculate more often and faster than women. However, most research is done among heterosexual men and women. This therefore raises the question of whether sexual orientation also has an influence? Is there also an orgasm gap between men and women who are homosexual or bisexual?
The orgasm gap
During sex, almost every heterosexual man orgasms. In women, this is much less consistently the case. Scientists call this difference in consistency “the orgasm gap.
There has been some regular research in recent years on the size and causes of that gap. For example, women who have had sex with the man in question many times before are said to ejaculate more quickly, especially if she also has feelings of infatuation and her favorite sexual activity is employed. This was found in a 2012 study (Armstrong, England, Fogarty) of 13,484 college students at 21 different universities in America.
For example, women who have sex with their partner for the first time are said to ejaculate only in 32% of cases, while women who have had sex with their partner more than six times ejaculate on average in 51% of cases. If she satisfies herself by hand in the process, the chance of orgasm increases by 18%, while if he tries to do so it is only an increase of 9%. Oral sex (from him to her) also increases the chances by 9%.
Sexual orientation

Recently, research has been done on the orgasm gap. This research (Frederick, John, Garcia, Lloyd) was recently published in The Archives of Sexual Behavior. The data came from surveys of 52,588 single adult Americans. They were asked how often (percentage) they ejaculated during sex in the past month.
The results show that there is an orgasm gap between men and women, but there are also big differences between people of different sexual orientations. Whereas the gap between straight men and women is 30 percentage points, among bisexuals it is only 22 percentage points. Among homosexuals, it is even only 3 percentage points.
Orgasm more often
Women who ejaculated more often received oral sex more often. They also had sex that lasted longer and were more likely to report being in a “good relationship. Also, these women more often ask their partner ‘to do that one thing’ (that which the woman in question finds pleasurable). In addition, these women do more sexting, wear lingerie more often, try new positions more often, engage in anal sex, let their fantasies come to life more often, and talk about sex more. Women were also more likely to cum when kissing and hand and mouth stimulation were involved before moving on to penetration.
