After we’ve covered many topics – here on NBRplaza – it’s now time for a topic that many people find quite extreme: the anal hook. It may even sound downright painful, but believe me if you’re interested in BDSM and if anal sex doesn’t scare you off immediately, the anal hook might be for you.
An anal hook: what is it?
An anal hook is a curved piece of metal, one end of which has a ball and the other a ring. The bullet tip is supposed to sit comfortably in the submissive partner’s anus. The ring can then be used to attach a rope or chain, or to hook a finger into it.
Typically these hooks are about an inch thick and 6 inches long. The balls come in different sizes and shapes and can even be interchanged at times. This way you can always choose a ball that best suits your personal preference.
Why use an anal hook?
An anal hook is used in a BDSM setting, often in combination with bondage. In addition to anal stimulation (or training), you can use an anal hook for humiliation or dominance. The whole idea behind an anal hook is to put the receiving party in some sort of compromising, uncomfortable position or situation and then have fun together.
Using an anal hook requires that you first gain some experience with bondage and anal sex. If either of the two aren’t your thing, the anal hook probably isn’t for you either. You can also insert an anal hook vaginally, if anal is not quite your thing.
Anal hooks are used in what is also called ‘predicament bondage’. This is a form of bondage in which the submissive has to choose between two difficult positions, for example pain in your scalp (if the anal hook is attached to the hair) or pain in your anus.
How to use an anal hook
Anyone who has ever had anal sex knows that there is a fine line between pleasure and pain. It may scare some people, but for others that’s all the reason to give it a try.
Either way, always be careful. Do not get carried away and build up the insertion slowly. Make sure the receiving party is sufficiently aroused and stress-free. Always use a generous amount of lubricant for anal use and listen carefully to your body. If the bullet is too big and painful, stop (temporarily) and try a smaller toy or finger first to get the sphincter used to it.
If you’ve never used an anal hook before, be careful about moving and applying force to the hook. First let the receiving party get used to it and build up the game slowly.
How deep the ball goes into the anus depends on personal preference. Some people like to have some room to play, while others insert the hook in such a way that there is hardly any room for movement (for the hook).
After the hook is in place, you can do several things. The dominant party can put his finger in the ring and move the hook (gently). For example, he or she can have the submissive crawl through a room on all fours, while the dominant leads the submissive.
Or the dominant can make a rope through the loop and attach it to something, such as the hair, wrists, a collar, or another object. This can limit the freedom of movement of the receiving party, so that the slave is completely at the whim of the dominant partner. It can then tease or torment, whichever is preferred.
An anal hook can also be worn under clothing, attached to the torso (harness) with a rope, so that it serves as a form of public humiliation.
Finally, you can easily make the anal hook vibrate by holding a powerful wand vibrator against it.
What should you pay attention to when purchasing an anal hook?
First of all, it is important to pay attention to the material. A classic anal hook is made of stainless steel. This material is strong, easy to clean and it is also suitable for temperature play. Avoid cheap materials (such as chrome metal, plastic, or nickel). A good and safe anal hook costs anywhere between € 30 and € 150.
Always opt for an anal hook with a ball. If there is no ball on the hook, you can easily damage the anus wall. It is also important that there are no sharp edges. Some anal hooks have interchangeable balls. While that may seem fun, because you can then alternate, there is also a risk. The ball could come loose if not properly attached, and there is always room for bacteria to build up. It is therefore better to take an anal hook that is made from one piece.
The ball can have different shapes. Some have one ball, others have multiple balls.
The angle of the hook can be different. Which angle you choose depends a bit on how you want to use the hook.
In principle you can also use some (silicone) butt plugs, provided they stay in place and have a ring for bondage. This does reduce the experience of the metal anal hook a bit. Metal is cold and cannot be bent. This makes it a bit more ‘compelling’.
Cleaning an anal hook
Cleaning a sex toy is always important, but perhaps even more important with anal toys. A metal hook is easy to clean, because the material is not porous. This allows you to clean it before and after use with water and mild disinfectant soap. You can even cook metal toys. During use, you can clean it in between with a toy cleaner.
If your anal hook has interchangeable balls, remove the ball before cleaning. Make sure you also clean the holes and threads well.
Safety
As with all BDSM activities, safety is of the utmost importance. Use common sense and take precautions. For example, always make sure that you can quickly release the hook from the rope. Use snap hooks for example, or have a sharp knife nearby to quickly release the rope.
If necessary, use a condom on the hook; especially if you want to use the hook with several people (in one session). Change the condom if it is being used on someone else.
An anal hook is not suitable for suspension. If you are using an anal hook with suspension, make sure that there is no weight hanging on the hook itself.
Communication is very important. Discuss in advance what you do and do not want to happen. Agree on a safe word in advance. Respect each other’s boundaries.
Always check before use that the anal hook is not damaged.
Some nice anal hooks (and alternatives)
For beginners, there is this single ball anal hook from Sinner Gear. The length of the rod is 24 cm. The hook is lightweight and weighs 108 grams.
The spherical end is 3 cm in diameter (insertion depth is 7 cm) and is therefore suitable for beginners. In addition, the hook is very competitively priced.
Also from the brand Sinner Gear is this anal hook with two balls. These balls are also 3 cm in diameter. The total insertion depth is 13 cm. The length is 27 cm. The weight is 113 gr.
Both Sinner Gear anal hooks are made of stainless steel.
This anal hook is called ‘meat hook‘ and is from the brand ‘Master Series‘. The hook has a sleek design with three balls that keep getting a bit bigger as you insert the hook further. The largest ball has a diameter of 3.3 cm.
This hook is a lot heavier (368 gr) than the previous two and that is nice. It therefore gives a better experience.
Technically this is not an anal hook, but you can use the Njoy Pure Plug Medium for the same purpose. The great thing is that you can use this thing as a normal buttpug, as a G-spot dildo and – because of the ring – also for bondage.
The Njoy brand makes beautiful toys from the highest quality material.
You can also combine other butt plugs with a ring with bondage. For example this set of buttplugs ‘Anal Rimmer’ bt Master Series.
This set consists of four different plugs, all of which are different in shape and stimulation. Your cunt using the ring to attach a rope, belt, or chain to it. The Plugs are made of silicone and are therefore best combined with water-based lubricant.
