Last year the Doxy 3 wand vibrator, aka the Doxy Mini, was launched. That’s because the Doxy 3 can be seen as the smaller version of the famous Doxy Die Cast (a wand vibrator that is praised by many). Question remains: is smaller better? That’s why I took the Doxy 3 to the bedroom for a testdrive.
The Doxy 3
Doxy is a brand that is known for its powerful sex toys. They are made in the UK and are seen as the answer to the original: the Hitachi Magic Wand (that is available in Europe as Europe Magic Wand). There are a lot of cheap ripp-offs of the Hitachi, and Doxy decided to reclaim the reputation of the plug-in wand massager. For anyone that is not familiar with wand vibrators: they are famous of their deep vibrations, that – let’s be honest – are way to intens for some but a blessing for others.
The prestige model of Doxy is the Doxy Die Cast. This device is not battery operated bu has a cord and plug. It is a tough machine with a metal housing, of 33 cm long, 830 grams heavy and a head of 6 cm. Believe me, just seeing or holding it will impress you, let alone putting it to work. If the Doxy Die Cast has any disadvantages, it is it’s size. It’s BIG. And the head is made of PVC and is kinda hard.
To me, the Doxy 3 is a nice surprise. It is just that bit smaller (28 centimeter) and thinner (4,5 cm) and it weighs less (806 gram). This may not seem like a huge difference, but it is just nicer to hold than it’s big brother. Its housing is made of aluminum and titanium. The Doxy 3 is also mains operated, but its cord is long (3 meters) so you dont have to … uhm .. sit next to an outlet. Unfortunately this also means that you can’t use it near water.
The head feels nice and soft and is made of silicone. You can turn the head off which makes it much easier to clean. That’s new. The other Doxy’s don’t have this feature. It does make me curious at who would be smart enough to develop and produce accessories that can be screwed on the Doxy 3.
The + and – buttons can be used to increase of decrease the power continuously (strength) and if you hold the power button for a few seconds it will start to pulsate. The pulse can again be varied with the + and – buttons. Personally I am not a big fan of patterns, but it comes with the device.
All Doxy devices have a 12 month warranty.
Hear the angels sing
When I removed the Doxy 3 from the box, I had an instant feeling of excitement. What a machine! The size and weight is still impressive. You are really holding something.
The smaller head, combined with the soft material, is great. It makes you able to pinpoint the vibrations, or so it seems. Just like the Die Cast, the Doxy 3 remembers its last setting. If you switch it on again, it will continue with the speed that you last used. I love it, especially if you are forced to switch it of during play, for one reason or another.
I like to think that the vibrations of the Doxy 3 are non-inferior to the Die Cast. It is a deep rumbly vibration. For me the highest power position is too much, so I like to use it from the lowest to the intermediate position. Always use lube. I usually use some water based lube (because silicone and easy to clean) on my vulva and clit before I apply the Doxy. I also check the speed (I turn it to its lowest position), then switch it off, place it on the desired spot and then switch it on again (long live the memory of this device). Even the lowest position is stronger than most mini vibrators. The vibrations resonate in my entire lower belly. Then I start to turn the head and slowly power up. The excitement builds to the point where I am unstoppable and have an intense orgasm. No exception. The size of the head (that is not too big) transfer the vibrations to the surface above, below or to the side of your clit. Direct pressure is to intens for me, but that is different for everyone, I guess. I’ve even tried it with my jeans stil on and even then I came.
My boyfriend also likes the Doxy 3. Not just to use on me (sometimes together with some soft bondage or climax control) but also on himself. I apply some lube on his frenulum and press the Doxy to it. That usually does the trick to have him ejaculate in less than a few minutes. He also likes it when I press the head against his perineum (the dam between his anus and scrotum). But you can also use it for any other erogenous zone or to massage sore muscles. Halleluja and gloria in exelsis deo.
To make a long story short, I recommend the Doxy 3 to everyone who likes deep rumbly vibrations. My guess is that the metal housing and the metal inside of the head will make it suitable for heavy duty stuff. Because it is mains operated, it will never get tired.
The Doxy 3 is available in the shop of NBRplaza for €139,95.
