How long will it take before you can operate your sex toy with your smart watch? Will you be able to speak to your smart speaker (like Alexa, Apple HomePod, or Google Home) to activate your favorite toy? kunnen praten om je speeltje te activeren? We from NBRplaza looked in to it.
Controlling your high-tech sex toy leaves a great deal to be desired. Sometimes there are a couple of regular modes and some patterns and you can vary the speed too. Most sex toys however, only have 1 to max 3 push buttons to play around with the settings. Usually, that is quite inadequate. The capabilities are limited and the buttons are hard to reach.
Some manufacturers might have found the solution. They make use of apps to control your device through your smart phone. But why stop there?
An estimate 4.1 million Dutch people, aged 16 and up, own a smart watch. And approximately 85% of the Dutch own a sex toy. See the opportunity? Yet, there are no apps for smart watches to control sex toys.
But this is gradually changing. Some SexTech companies are developing integrated solutions for sex toys with new technologies.
OhMiBod for your Apple Watch
One of those SexTech companies, that has been working on smart integration since their establishment, is OhMiBod. This firm is specialized in couples toys.
According to Engadget, OhmiBod will release a version of their app that is suitable for the Apple Watch this spring. What the OhMiBod app for the Apple Watch can do exactly is still unknown. But we assume that it will enable you to control the standard patterns and those you create on the smart phone app, for all recent OhMiBod toys.
Voice control and biometry
Remote control with your smart phone or smart watch is just the beginning. By using the heart rate monitor of your smart watch, users will be able to align the intensity of the vibrations to their state of arousal. The faster your heart rate, the more intense the vibrations. OhMiBod announced on CES that their new app will be capable of doing this.
Another development is voice control of your sex toy. This is also an area that OhMiBod works on. They developed a way to connect their devices to the Alexa Smartspeaker. This way, you can give voice commands to activate your sex toys.
The Esca of OhMiBod, that was developed together with Kiiroo and Fleshlight, can vibrate to whatever music you are listening to and can be operated with the Alexa smartspeaker.
Alexa, make me crazy!
Last year, LoveSense announced that their toys can be operated with the Alexa Home smartspeaker. This way, you are able to give voice commands to activate LoveSense toy, wherever in the world it is located.
A major advantage of working with apps, is that it has become much easier to update the functions of the toy. Through the app, ew functionality can be added.
The possibilities are endless
One of the reasons it is taking so long for apps to become available, is that Apple has issues with erotic content. But as soon as some middle ground has been found, the possibilities will be endless.
Imagine operating sex toys for disabled persons. Controlling sex toys, based on heart rate or with voice commands, will make it easier and safer for disabled persons to enjoy sex toys. Think about visually impaired persons, or people with mobility issues. Operating sex toys with the heart monitor function could also be a great solution for those with heart problems. THe app could take some limits into account, to keep it safe yet exciting.
But also the kinksters will be able to find whole new experiences. A dominante inventor from the UK, found out how to adjust his Amazon Echo to enable controlling an eStim device with voice commands to give his sub little pulses.
