There’s a lot of porn on the worldwide interwebs. But not all porn is the same. What do all these genres, that are used to categorize porn, mean? Below we explain it in an illustrated overview.

Alt porn	This is a genre in which the porn stars have tattoos and piercings, but also could be goths or skinheads.
Amateur	The viewer is getting tired of the polished images of faking ladies with fake boobs. That’s why movies of real people are getting popular. Usually private home made movies, created in a bedroom. More and more recordings from ‘the industry’, that are made as if they are amateur images.
Anal	All forms of sex with the anus in the leading role.
Art porn	A form of artistic porn and erotic art.
ATM (Ass to Mouth)	When oral sex comes after anal sex.
Avant-porn	Porn with the aesthetics of avant garde films
BBW	Sex with women that are a size plus (Big Beautiful Women)
BDSM	BDSM is short for Bondage, Domination and Sado Masochism. It is an umbrella term for all kinds of movies that may include bondage, domination, submissiveness, sadism, masochism, pain, power exchange, and other kinks.
Beach	Films that were shot on the beach.
Bear	Hairy men play the leading role in these movies, as a sub genre of gay porn.
Bestialitity	Sex with animals. Usually women with dogs, horses, donkeys, but sometimes even snakes or squids. Illegal in most countries.
Big breasts	This seems pretty straightforward. Aren’t all porn movies filled with these? Maybe. But if a porn movie is tagged as ‘big breast’ expect these boobs to be big, bigger, biggest…
Big Butt	Movies with women that are the proud owners of a big behind.
Bisexual	Oddly enough these movies often depict trios with two bisexual men and a woman. Movies with two bisexual women and a man are so mainstream that they are just called threesomes or groupsex.
Blowjobs	Oral sex performed at a man.
Bukkake	A genre comming from Japan, in which a large group of men ejaculate over the face of a woman, often until her face is covered in a thick layer of sperm. There are also films with reversed bukkake: women squirt over the face of a men.
Cameltoe	Usually photos of women wearing tight trousers, so you can actually see their vulva. It looks like a camel toe, hence the name.
Cartoons	Cartoon movies or comic books with  pornographic characteristics.
Celebrities	Most likely you will find movies of lookalikes of well known people that are making a porn. Also Photoshopped pictures of a porn scene with the heads of famous people editted in. In some rare cases you will actually find sex tapes of famous people. Well known are the sex tapes of Pamela Anderson.
CFNM	Clothed Female, Naked Male, or, ladies with their clothes on that satisfy and humiliate a man (against his will). Also movies of women at a bachelors party that have fun with a male prostitute (gigolo).
Cheerleader	Porn with girls dressed as teen cheerleader.
Child porn	Illegal, as it should be. Objectionable, because minors are forced to have sex.
Cream Pie and felching	Cream pie is when a man cums inside of the vagina or anus and the woman shows how the sperm leaks out. Felching is when someone licks or drinks the sperm from someone else’s vagina or anus. Also in gay variants.
Cuckold	Cuckoldry is a sub genre of BDSM. A cuckold is a man who is humiliated by watching how his wife has sex with someone else.
Cum swapping	Cum swapping is when two people play with sperm. Usually women that exchange sperm after oral sex by kissing, but also in gay movies.
Cumshots	Scenes of the money shot (a man shooting his sperm, often over the body of a woman).
DP	Double Penetration. Films in which a woman is penetrated both vaginal and anal at the same time.
Electro (wired)	Sex with electro shocks (sub genre of BDSM).
Emetophilia	Porn where the porn star is vomiting and the viewer gets turned on by it.
Enema	An enema is a device to insert fluids in the anus. In these movies, you witness the inserting, but also the squirting of said fluids.
Exhibitionist or flashing	Movies of men or women showing their nude bodies in public.
Femdom	Female domination, sub genre of BDSM; Women dominating over men.
Fetish	Fetish is  an umbrella term for getting sexually aroused of a material or object. Well known are shoe fetish, rubber or leather fetish, foot fetish, but also smoking fetish.
Fisting	Fistfukking. Entering an entire hand in a vagina or anus.
Furry	This is a sub genre of hentai: animation of characters that are half human and half animal. Sometimes also people wearing animal-like suits.
Futanari	Japanese for women with a penis.
Gangbang	Group sex, where 1 person (often a woman) is being fucked by a group of men in turns. There are several record attempts where a woman is challenged to take as many men as possible. Sometimes you will find a reversed gangbang with one man and many women.
Gape shots	Sex movies in which shots of gaping openings (usually the anus) are shown.
Gay	Porn with homosexual men.
Gloryhole	Imagine a room with holes in the wall. Outside of the room, men are sticking their penises through these holes. They don’t know what is in the room. In the room is 1 or more persons that satisfy the men. The movies have been shot from within the room.
Golden Shower	A golden shower is the kind of shower you get when someone pees over someone else. Pee sex.
Gonzo	These films are made with the camera man as the first person (see also POV).
Grannies	Sex with older women.
Group sex	Sex with more than two persons is considered group sex or an orgy. This could be a threesome, but often it is a bigger group. Don’t mix this up with a gang bang.
Guru or Gore	Japanese sub genre with a lot of blood and violence, that gets pretty grosse. This is the horror of porn.
Hair (colour or lengt)  fetish	Blonds, brunettes, redheads, black haired. It’s mostly about the hair colour or the length (growing up to her ass) or hairdo (sometimes also bald) .
Hairy	In contrary to the previous genre, it is not the hair on the head that is playing the majojr part, but other body hair.
Hand jobs	Satisfying a man manually (not to be confused with masturbation).
Hentai	This is a Japanese cartoon genre (also anime). Not all anime is porn, but Hentai is usually pornographic with lots of violence and extreme sex.
Hermaphrodite	A hermaphrodite is a person of both sexes. In other words, having genitals of both a man as a woman. Rare and therefore big fun, but also usually very fake.
Hidden cams	Cameras can be hidden on all sorts of places where women undress: dressing rooms, toilets, bedrooms, offices.
High Heel	Who isn’t into women on high heeled shoes? In this case the heels are of extreem heights and fetish-like.
Incest	Almost every taboo is good for porn. Hence incest. In this genre it is usually the fathers and brothers that do the willing mothers and sisters. Or each other. Of course the actors aren’t really related.
Interactive	Interactive porn uses computer animated graphics. The user (you) can make the characters do whatever it is you want them to do. Like Sims, but for adults. Unfortunately not available for the major game consoles.
Interracial	In interracial porn there is usually one white woman who has sex with one or more black men. Of course, all prejudice about black men seem true in these movies.
Jail/Prison	Inmates doing it with each other, but also with men and women in police uniforms.
Japanese Bondage	An artful form of BDSM, with suspense and knots that require a lot of practice. Also called shibari.
Jerk off encouragement, or jerk off instruction	Movies in which women instruct the mostly male viewer how to masturbate. Usually they make encouraging moves and sounds.
Lesbian	No men allowed in these films. Just ladies, doing it with each other. Oddly enough, very popular among men.
Lolita (lollipop)	Because childporn is illegal, girls over 18 dress up like little naughty girls. Think pony tails, roller skates and a lollipop.
Men	See Gay
Massages	Everyone that ever has been to Thailand knows there are 2 forms of massages: those with, and those without a happy ending. Oil will be applied.
Masturbation	Solo sex. A man or a woman doing it with themselves. That, filmed.
Matures	For once, not young girls, but mature women.
Medical (doctor)	Ever played doctor when you were a child? “Oh, please nurse, I feel such an itch between my toes. Between my big toes!”. Doctors and nurses taking very good care of their patients. Bring in the medical instruments.
MILFs	Mothers I Like To Fuck. The more mature soccer moms and their neighbors stimulate the fantasy.

Oral	Oral sex, or satisfying the partner with the mouth and tongue. This could either be fellatio or cunnilingus. Or both at the same time.
Panties, Bras	In most genres, the women are usually nude. Not in this one. Expect women in beautiful lingerie.
Parody	In these porn movies the story line is derived from a popular movie. Usually the film titel is also recognizable (e.g. ‘Saving Ryan’s Privates’).
Pegging (strap-on)	Pegging is a form of anal sex, where a woman fucks a man with her strap-on dildo.
POV	The abreviation POV stands for Point Of View. Similar to Gonzo (see above). You see sex like you would have if you would cary the camera. Very popular on tablets.
Preggo	Sex with pregnant women.
Public nudity	A large genre of movies, varying from exhibitionism, sex in dressing rooms, public transportation, parking lots, public humiliation (BDSM), etc.
Race	Different sub genres exist that distinguish because of the origin of the porn stars. Known genres are Asian, Japanese, Ebony, Black, German, French, Indian, Latin and even Dutch.
Rape	For many women and men, a rape fantasy is very arousing. This genre acts out that fantasy. Real rape is never OK.
Red rhapsody	Also called ‘Erotic Red’. Because good sailors also sail the red sea: sex with women on their period.
Rimjob	Tossing the salad. A rim job is licking the anus.
Rubber	Rubber is a fetish for wearing or touching rubber.
Saliva	Exchanging saliva. Usually with oral sex and spitting.
Scat	Scat porn is all about faeces. People getting excited about watching, touching, smearing and even eating excrement.
Sex toys	Playing with toys. Think vibrators, butt plugs, dildo’s, and other stuff.
Shemale or Tranny	Open during renovation. Men that are halfway the proces of transsexual operations. A shemale is a person with boobs, but still has a penis.
Smoking	Women who smoke can be a great turn on. Ask Bill Clinton, who used to do things with his cigar.
Snuff	A snuff movie is a film where someone is being killed. The existence of real snuff is considered an urban legend.
Solo	Solo sex. See masturbation.
Spanking (whipping)	A sub genre of BDSM, where people are getting spanked and experience pain as a result of getting their ass beaten with a hand or a whip.
Squirting	When a women ejaculates when she cums, it is called squirting.
Stockings	Similar to high heel, porn containing stockings or pantyhoses are related to foot fetish. Legs and feet are the main characters in these movies.
Swingers	Swingers are adults that exchange partners. See also group sex.
Teacher/student	A fantasy where a student (male or female) has a relationship with a teacher (man or women). Power exchange and a big taboo.
Teens	Young girls and boys, but over 18.
Tentacle	An extreme variation filled with fantasy and bestiality. A person is being conquered by an alien creature with lots of tentacles that fill all holes. Usually originated from Japan and a beloved theme in Hentai.
Threesome/trio	Sex with three persons. Who hasn’t fantasized about that. And surprisingly enough, there are lots of variations in this theme.
Transgender	A transgender is a cross dresser: Someone who acts and dresses like someone of the opposite sex.
Transman	A transman is a transsexual that once was a woman, but received surgery to become a man, except for the genitals. Opposite of a shemale. A famous transman is Buck Angel.
Transsexual	A transsexual completed the surgery for a sex change.
Twink	Twinks are young gay men. Sort of the male version of a Lolita, but gay.
Underwater	Underwater sex is for the advanced divers. Great under water views, bizar positions and rubber fetish.
Upskirts	Uppies are photos and films made under the dresses of unsuspecting women. Often celebrities.
Vintage	Ah, the classics. From the times breast were real, hair still grew in private places and the story line was less predictable.
