Manufacturers of sex toys always use a specific purpose for a specific target group in their marketing stories. For example, vibrators are often advertised for vaginal penetration in women. Often, this marketing story of the manufacturer is extremely limited. Not only in relation to gender, but also in terms of functionality.
Pink and blue
Sex toys are like the layout of a toy shop. The packaging of dolls and kitchens is still aimed at girls and tractors and spacecraft at boys. But why shouldn’t a boy play hairdresser and a girl play superhero? Fortunately, more and more shops and brands are deciding to abandon this dichotomy.
Apart from the discussion about gender identity (do you feel like a man, a woman, or something in between or outside of it?), there is nothing wrong with using sex toys in a way other than what the manufacturer intended.
Fantasy
Therefore, do not be limited by what you read on the packaging or on the website of a manufacturer. Use your imagination and think outside the proverbial square. The erogenous zones of humans are not only between the legs.
This means that you can use almost any vibrator that is recommended for penetration on any other part of your body. Think of the nipples, the frenulum, the perineum and the clitoris. But if you like to hold it against your elbow or the sole of your foot, don’t let anyone stop you!
Your common sense
Of course, there are limitations. And that is why it is always wise to think carefully. Especially if you deviate from what the manufacturer has prescribed. Remember that – when you are horny – you are not thinking clearly. Just like when you are drunk, everything seems a good idea when you are horny.
What you have to pay attention to, is inserting objects into the anus. Your sphincter will clamp an object and once an object is inside the anus, the sphincter will also make sure that it doesn’t come out as 1-2-3. This is why good anal toys always have a T-shape or a ring at the end. This prevents the toy from sliding all the way into your anus and with the part that stays outside the body you can also easily pull it out again.
The same applies to the vagina. It may be a little easier to get an object that has slipped all the way into the vagina out again, but it is still extremely annoying when you have to fumble around to get it out. And you really don’t want to have to go to the doctor’s office to have an object removed.
So watch what you put in your body, but also look out for objects that can pinch the blood circulation or nerves. Think in advance about what could go wrong and what measures you can take to prevent it.
Use it like this too
While reviewing sex toys, my partner and I often notice that the manuals of sex toys are rather limited. Especially where the manufacturer focuses mainly on one particular gender or sex organ. That’s why we’ve listed some examples below, of sex toys that you can also use in surprising other ways.
Tip 1: Tenga Egg & magic wand

The Tenga Egg is a masturbation sleeve for single use. It is actually an egg made of a very soft and flexible material, in which there is a hole for the penis. There is a structure on the inside. The idea is that you put some lubricant in the egg and then put it over the penis. When you move the egg up and down, you can feel the soft structure along the head of the penis and that is extra exciting.
If you turn the Tenga Egg inside out, the stimulating structure is on the outside. That egg fits perfectly over the head of a wand vibrator! The egg protects your wand vibrator, which is great if you use it with more than one partner. You don’t have to put a condom over the head. But what’s even better is that the structure provides extra stimulation when you hold the wand vibrator against your erogenous zones!
You can use a Tenga Egg several times in this way. Rinse it well after use and return it to its original shape. Put it back in the packaging for the next time.
Always use a water-based lubricant only with a Tenga Egg.
Tip 2: Cock ring for fingering

When you buy a cock ring, you must either have some experience with it, or be very lucky. There are many different types of cock rings, both in form, function and size. Therefore, you may very well have a penis ring lying around, which you consider to be a bad bargain. Maybe it was uncomfortable, maybe you couldn’t feel the vibrations in your penis, maybe the thing was too small, or too big?
If you have a vibrating penis ring, use it while stimulating yourself or your partner by hand (fingering, jerking off).
You can actually do this with any vibrating cock ring. Put the ring on your fingers (depending on the model you can use two or three fingers) and make sure that the vibrating part is on the side of the mouse of your hand.
By massaging yourself or your partner, the vibrations will provide an extra experience. Again, it does not matter which body part you massage. In fact, if your partner has sore muscles, such vibrations can also be very pleasant. But it becomes even more fun when you go to all the different erogenous zones in this way.
You can also use any lay-on vibrator in this way. Lay-on vibrators are recommended for clitoral stimulation. But they are also very suitable for massaging (for example, the penis).
It is somewhat more obvious to put a vibrating penis ring on a dildo. That way, you can turn a standard dildo into a vibrator.
Tip 3: P-spot & G-spot
The G-spot is a sensitive spot in the vagina. You can feel a spongy piece of tissue if you make a ‘come-hither’ movement with your fingers towards the belly side. Many women find it extra pleasurable if the G-spot is also stimulated during sex. It is therefore not surprising that there are many sex toys designed specifically for the G-spot.
People who do not have a vagina, but a penis, do not have a G-spot. They do have a prostate (or P-spot). This is an organ that is also called the ‘G-spot of the man’. You can stimulate the prostate through the anus. It is therefore not surprising that there are plenty of toys for P-spot stimulation.
The nice thing is that to stimulate both the G-spot and the P-spot, you need a toy with a slightly curved head. And that makes these toys completely interchangeable in form and function. Sometimes G-spot dildos and vibrators are a bit thicker than anal toys, but this is not always the case. Occasionally, a toy is actually recommended for both functions, such as the Lora Dicarlo Tilt.
So if you have bought a P-spot toy, but for some reason you don’t use it (because it is too thick or not nice), you can always use it for your girlfriend’s G-spot. And vice versa.
Be careful! Because the anus is a source of bacteria. Bacteria you do not want in the vagina (or urethra). Therefore, always make sure that you clean a toy extremely well after it has been in the anus and before you put it in the vagina! Consider using a good toy cleaner as well. Or put a condom on the toy when using it anally.
Tip 4: Use together
Many toys are marketed as toys for solo sex. Sex toys to be used alone. And that is not only strange but also a great pity. Of course, you might find it embarrassing or even intimidating to use a sex toy with your partner, but why not?

With a vibrator or dildo, it might seem obvious to use it together. This can be during foreplay, or as extra stimulation during PiV (penis-in-vagina) sex. This is especially the case when you use a couple’s vibrator.
But why not use a masturbation sleeve – like the Fleshlight – together? It can be very exciting to use such a penis toy during foreplay, or when one of the partners is less in the mood.
One of the most versatile penis toys is the Fun Factory Mantra. This toy is meant for penis stimulation, but can be used in many more ways; also as a vibrator for her sensitive spots!
Let your imagination run wild
So don’t be limited by what you read on the packaging or on manufacturers’ websites. Remember that one of the world’s most popular sex toys – the Magic Wand – was once intended for massaging sore muscles. Use your imagination and common sense and who knows what surprising combinations you will discover!
